Bahubali Statue History

The temple is located at a distance of 70 kilometers from Mangalore. This temple enshrines the monolithic statue of BhagavanBahubali which is 39 foot high. Bahubali means ‘one with strong arms’ is a well-known figure indeed. He is known for his strength, power, and intelligence.

Bahubali, the second son of Rishabhanatha and the younger brother of BharataChakravartin. Besides that it is often said that after their father left his kingdom. There was a feud arose between the elder two brothers for the empire. Bahubali, even after winning the battle, gave the empire to his brother because he did not want any sourness between them. There are 5 statues of Bahubali in the state of Karnataka.

Dharmasthala Gommateshwari

Lord Bahubali is one of the largest free-standing statues in the whole world. Bahubali is also famous in name “Gommateshwara” as the statue is actually a tribute him. Visitors can reach there by climbing steps of the hill for about 20 minutes. The top of the hill provides a heart-throbbing view of the town.

The best time for tourism in this wonderful statue is in the morning to get away from humidity and sunny weather. Dharmasthala has a green background in the mornings and candlelight in the nights.
