The Ghanpuram Temples, also known as Kotagullu in the area, are a group of ancient temples. These temples are located in the village of Ghanpuram. Many people like to visit this heritage site, one of the most popular places near Ramappa Temple.

The two stone walls surrounding these temples show off the art and architecture of the Kakatiya people. Most people come to see the temple that is dedicated to Lord Siva. The sculptures in this temple's Sabhamandapam are beautiful and well-carved.

Who built the Ghanpur group of temples?

The Ghanpur Temples, also called "Kota Gullu," were built during the time of the Kakatiya dynasty by King Ganapathi Deva. Beautiful temple designs of South India are celebrated throughout the world. This fantastic group of temples in Ghanpur, Jayashankar Bhupalpally District, Telangana, reflects this incredible architectural excellence. The list of destinations of most of the Ramappa temple tour packages is added with a visit to this beautiful heritage.

When you visit the Ghanpur Temples, you'll feel like you've returned and experienced real history. King Ganapatideva of the Kakatiya dynasty built them between the late 12th century and early 13th century.

What is the architectural style of Kotagullu temples?

All of these temples had two-story brick walls around them. The temple was home to a museum that shows the art and buildings of the Kakatiya era. It is said that Lord Shiva lives in the main temple. In these temples, tourists can see a lot of sculptures based on myths. For example, the temple's porticos feature Gaja-Kesari, a half-human, half-lion riding on an elephant, and Horse-head, Lion-Back Elephants.

The sight of old temples surrounded by tall palm trees is beautiful. One inscription slab talks about Ganapathi Reddy, who erected Lord Ganapeswara and gave land during the reign of Ganapathi Deva (1199–1262 CE). It mentions the cyclical year of "Jaya Nama Samvatsara, Vaisakha Sudha Trayodasi, Bruhaspati Vasaram" (1234–1335 CE). The writing suggests that builders probably constructed the temple in the first half of the 13th century CE.
