History Of Wayanad
The history of Wayanad Kerala dates back to Palaeolithic period that existed about 800 years back. The region was under the rule of several empires like Kadamba, Hoysala, Kutumbiya, and Vijayanagara. After the rule of King of Kottayam ended, Wayanad saw a new era of growth and development under Tipu Sultan. However, the British annexed Wayanad in 1799 and soon converted it into a land of spice, coffee and tea plantations.
