History of Trichy or Tiruchirappalli

Trichy is well known for its art and literature. The city was earlier known as Uraiyur. Along with this, the city was ruled by various dynasties also. The different dynasties that ruled at this place were Cholas, Pandayas, Pallavas, and many more during different years.

The Jambukeshwar temple is one of the holiest temples. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. You can also see a very beautiful Dravidian style in this temple.

This dam was built by the Cholas. Along with this, you will be amazed to hear that the dam is around 2000 years old. All the surroundings of the dam are very beautiful as it is covered with lush green forests. 

4. Vekkali Amman Temple

Vekkali Amman is a famous temple of Trichy dedicated to goddess Parvati. Various tourists from all over the world are coming here to seek blessings. The temple faces in the north direction. It is believed that this direction helped in winning various battles also.
