Veerampattinam beach is famous for its annual car festival, that is celebrated in the Sengazhuneer Amman Temple. This temple is devoted to Amman, who is one of the forms of Goddess Shakthi. According to the Tamil month Aadi, that lies between July to August, the famous car festival is celebrated in a grand way. During this festival, on Fridays, special rituals and poojas are also organized. On the fifth Friday of this month the locals consider this day as very auspicious and a Chariot procession is done in a grand way. On this day, thousands of pilgrims arrive at Veerampattinam from the nearby villages. They gather at this village to be part of this festival. The chariot is taken through the streets and the devotees pull the chariot for a short distance. After the chariot returns to the halting position, several rituals and poojas are conducted. This beach is the perfect destination to enjoy the vacation and it is a mandatory place to visit in Pondicherry tourism
