The Manalar Dam is an artificial dam in Megamalai. It is a well-known spot for tourists as part of Megamalai tourist places.
Meghamalai is a small town in the hills with six dams and many streams running annually. The Iravangalar Dam, the Manalar Dam, and the Highway Dam are the most well-known. The tea gardens around the Manalar Dam make it a peaceful spot to spend time in nature.

In 1978 CE, the Manalar Dam was built across the Suruli River, also called the Manalar River. It can hold 13.5 million m3 of water. Some of the best places in Meghamalai are the calm lake and the mountains that call you. The Manalar Dam is worth visiting during the Meghamalai tour package.

Standing at the Manalar dam, you can see the beautiful hamlets and the stunning Cumbum Valley. Walk through the misty landscapes and visit the spice gardens, coffee farms, and tea estates. The Meghamalai Falls are beautiful, and the water flows nonstop, no matter the season. 

From Surulii Theertham, which comes from the hills, falls in two different places. Tourists can also see wildlife like elephants, gaurs, and spotted deer. Get your cameras ready because a great picture is about to happen. Get to Silver Mountain, which is 1650 metres above sea level. It is one of the most beautiful places, with many trees and flowers. 

The best time to visit

During the wet season, you can see the beautiful flow of water that brings in many tourists yearly. It is possible to see the Cumbum ravines and the villages in the Theni area from above at the dam. On top of that, it's an excellent spot for pictures and pre-wedding shoots.

Winter is also an excellent time to visit the dam. The views are beautiful from the top.
