Pandava Cave is an old Javtala village in Dang district, Gujarat state. It is one of Gujarat's heritage sites and one of the best spots to visit during the Saputara Tour package.
The best route to go to the cave is via Javtala via Linga. The cave is around 1.5 kilometres away from Javtala. The trekking trail is picturesque, with views of tribal communities and fort ruins.
The alternative option is to visit Pandava hamlet on the way to Chinchali village and hike 2-3 km to the Pandava caves. Food is far from the cave, so guests must bring enough food and water. However, the Pandava cave at Saputara is a must among the places to visit in Saputara.
The reason for the attractiveness of the cave is because it is between the green jungle. The visitors can also explore the beauty of nature and the cave. The place is relatively peaceful and calm. Opposite the cave, there is also a waterfall worth visiting. It is a good place to spend some time in nature.
History of Pandava Cave
Pandava Cave is also famous as Pandav Gufa. It is one of Gujarat's most significant historical attractions since Pandavas, the heroes of the epic Mahabharata, claimed to have spent time here during their exile. The cave is 60 metres in distance and 15 metres wide.
The cave has a Shivling. During their shelter in the cave, the Pandavas were worshipping the Shivling to offer their prayer to Lord Shiva. It is reported that the top has numerous chambers, the largest of which belongs to 'Bhima.'
The best time to visit
Saputara welcomes travellers all year, although the best time to visit is between October and February when the weather is most beautiful. Winter is approaching, and this highland station's temperature has dropped slightly. The cool air and the warm sun make the place perfect for relaxing.
Tourists need to climb to reach the Pandava cafe. The journey is beautiful as it offers views of nature and the jungle. The Gufa is a part of the cultural legacy of Gujarat. The Gufa is a historical monument and a place of spiritual retreat.
