Shettihalli Church

In mysterious stories, that revolve around forgotten and abandoned structures, their ruins are getting intriguing. When it is about to abandon places, the Shettihalli Church is entirely abandoned and interesting. This church is also reckoned as Rosary Church. The Shettihalli Church is situated in the Hassan district of Karnataka state in India. This Shettihalli Church is famous as The Submerged Church and as The Floating Church, and it is popular among places to visit in Sakleshpur

During the 1860s, the Shettihalli Church, which is mandatory among Sakleshpur places to see, was constructed by French missionaries. This abandoned church is an excellent example of Gothic-style tectonic. After the construction of Hemavathi Dam, and Gorur Dam in 1960, the Shettihalli Church got deserted, and from that time the church was too forgotten.

During the time of monsoon, this church appears more attractive as it remains submerged in water and makes a more gothic appearance. If you head to visit the church in monsoon, then you will only see one-third portion of the Shettihalli Church. This abandoned church has a spooky charm over it, and it appears hauntingly beautiful in the afternoon. This church is one of the best places among Sakleshpur places to visit. In monsoon, when the water level rises in the dam, the Shettihalli Church gets disappeared under the world. So, if you are planning to visit this church in monsoon, then must hire a boatman, available near the Hemavathi Dam. With a boat, you will also visit the chapel from inside.

The surrounding of the Shettihalli Church is completely peaceful and blessed naturally. Across the dam, there is a bridge from where you can see the stunning view of the Shettihalli Church. The inside look of this church is entirely surreal. The view of the ruffled walls and arches by the boat trip inside the church will be surely a great experience. Withing last few years the Shettihalli Church has been a great attraction among tourists as one of the Sakleshpur tourist places

From July to October, it is the appropriate time to visit the Shettihalli Church, as the half portion of the church remains underwater in this period. Except for monsoon, you can visit this church between December and May, as in this time the entire Shettihalli Church is entirely visible and you can experience the beauty of this church at its fullest. For experiencing this amazing view of Shettihalli Church must add this in your Sakleshpur tour package.
