A quaint shrine at the hilltop, the amazing Anegudde Vinayaka temple is strategically located 25 kilometers from Udupi, 70 kilometers from the Murudeshwar and nearly 86 kilometers from the Mangalore. Anegudde Vinayaka temple history
This temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha where one the sage Agasthya performed penance to simply attract the Lord Indira. As per the history, once the sage Agasthya came down from the heaven to perform the yagna. It is a religious offering simply to please the Devas to offer rain to the place.
While performing, Kumbusura an asura, created a lot of trouble to the sage and clashed the Yagna. In that moment Lord Ganesha blessed one of the Panchya Pandavas, Bheem with a sword. He fought greatly with Kumbasura and slayed him.
The temple established to honor Lord Ganesha thus named Anegudde. It is also served as a Mukti Sthalas of the South, situated in Karnataka. The festivals like Sankastha Chaturthi and Ganesha Chaturthi is largely celebrated at Anegudde Vinayaka temple with a lot of enthusiasm. Even in December every year, a car festival is observed here celebrated with lot of favor and love.
