About Sim’s Park

History of Sim’s Park

Rated as one among the most thronged places to visit in Ooty, Sim’s Park is a nature enthusiast’s heaven. The park was built almost a century ago in 1874 by two gentlemen named J.D Sims and Major Murray. These men brought rare plants and trees from the world over, and thanks to their efforts, Ooty tourism has flourished so much.

An annual event that people come to witness is the park’s famous fruit and vegetable show that is organised here and lasts for 2 days. The festival sees a gathering of several fruit exhibitors who compete with each other. Apart from a display of a variety of fruits and veggies, visitors also get to enjoy cultural shows that are a regular feature.
