Courtallam, also famous as Kutralam, is a great place to get away from Tenkasi and Tirunelveli. Courtallam is a small town on the edge of Kollam District. It is famous for its waterfalls on the Western Ghats. The township is famous as the "Spa of South'' because of its beautiful views. The area has nine rivers, adding to its exotic beauty. Kutralam is also home to many old buildings that have stories connected to them that go back thousands of years. Like many other Indian places, the town is full of myths and legends that add to its magic.

Chitraruvi Falls Courtallam

The Chitraruvi Falls are right next to the Main Falls. Most falls are pretty small, so even people scared of the Main Falls (Peraruvi) can enjoy Chitraruvi. There are different places for men and women to take baths. After Chitraruvi, also known as "The Small Falls," you can get to ShenbagaDevi Falls and Thenaruvi. The Shenbaga Devi cascade is above Chitraruvi. To get to the falls, you must take a dangerous hike uphill through the Chitraruvi forest. People think the stream of water has a lot of healing and herbal qualities. The Chitraruvi Falls is one of the best places on the Courtallam tour packages.

Main Falls

One of the best things about the nine waterfalls is that the Main Falls, also famous as Peraruvi, is in the middle of town. It is the biggest waterfall in the area, falling 60 meters. The water stream is not only a popular place to visit in Courtallam but also a place of worship for the locals. But be careful when you go because the stream stops flowing from November to January. But during the busy season, it also shows a wonderful sight.

Old Falls Courtallam

Along the road to Tenkasi is Old Courtallam Falls, also famous as Pazhaya Courtallam in the area. The 200-foot fall has steps cut into the rocks to slow down the flow of water falling. Visitors don't come to these falls very often. There are different bathing areas for men and women, and tourists can get oil massages. If you want to call Old Courtallam Falls something else, you can. This waterfall is made when water runs through two rocks and into the valley below. During the Courtallam tour packages, this is one of the best places to go.

Tiger Falls

Though Tiger Falls isn't huge, it's still fun for kids and adults. It's in the middle of the Main Falls and Old Courtallam. The water that comes down the waterfall flows into a lake, making Tiger Falls even more fun. Tiger Falls is on private land. People call it "Tiger Falls" because cats are often seen running through the falls to get water. Tiger Falls is one of the beautiful places to visit in Courtallam.
