Located near Yaganti, in Andhra Pradesh, Belum Caves is overwhelming with its underground experience of stalactites and stalagmites formations. What is the Speciality of Belum Caves?

The name of the Belum caves comes from the Sanskrit word Bilum, which means "hole." Over a million years of water flowing over rock layers made these beautiful caves. Stained glass, sinkholes, water tunnels, and syphons are in significant numbers in these caves. People in the area have known about these caves for a long time. However, Robert Bruce Foote made the first official recording in 1884. Robert was a British zoologist and historian who worked for the Geological Survey of India.

In 1999, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation took over caring for the caves. They got rid of the trash and mud inside to build paths. They also put in air shafts and lights so anyone could enter the caves.

People from India can visit Belum Caves, the region's most prolonged and extensive cave system. The cave also has a long passage, tunnels, and big chambers with fresh water. The Belum caves are the second largest in India. The caves are 3229 metres in length. In addition to the main entry, visitors can explore 16 other access points to the cave. Furthermore, the cave is rich in crystal and black limestone formations.

The best time to visit Belum Caves is at any time of the year. Any time of the year is suitable for your visit there. It's best to go to these caves early in the day before the sun gets too hot for a bear. If you go into the cave after the afternoon, you might only be able to make it some of the way through. It would take up to two hours to fully explore the caves. The Belum caves are worth visiting during the Gandikota tour package.
