The small town of Gandikota has a lookout point called Pennar River Gorge. It is one of the most important places to see in Gandikota. It is often famous as the Grand Canyon of India. There are several places to visit in Gandikota, but one of the most popular is the Pennar River Gorge Viewpoint.

Along with the famous Grand Canyon in Arizona, these narrow valleys have streams going through them. The steep rocky walls also remind me of that canyon. It takes almost a kilometer from the main gate to walk to the rock, from which you can see the stunning view from the fort's lookout point.

What is the history behind the Pennar River Gorge?

Between the Erramala hills, which are also famous as the Gandikota hills, is the Pennar Gorge. The Pennar River made it. You can find a gorge in the middle of some hills or mountains. It's a small valley with steep, rocky walls and a stream.

Gorges are indeed made when rocks wear away over time. The depth of the Pennar River gorge is nearly 300 feet as measured from the edge of the rock. It's hard to believe that the Pennar River in Gandikota could cut such a huge gorge, but its steady flow finally carved a deep trench through the land, revealing many rock layers and making the amazing sight we see today.

What activities can visitors engage in at the Pennar River Gorge Viewpoint?

From Gandikota, many activities related to flying, rock climbing, rappelling, and trekking/hiking can be done.

You can hike up to the Pennar Gorge viewpoint, which offers a good view of the gorge formed by the flow of the Pennar River through the rocky tunnel. The best time to visit the place is during the sunset or sunrise. The narrow gorge looks beautiful. It looks like the Grand Canyon of Arizona. This is one reason it is so popular, as is the "Grand Canyon of India."

What are the best times to visit for the most scenic views?

November and February are the best time to visit Gandikota because the weather is nicer then. Travel is possible all year, but the summer can be much hotter, with temperatures hitting the late 30s, making it uncomfortable for tourists. During the Gandikota tour package, it is a fantastic location to visit.
