Raghavendra Swamy entered Jeeva Samadhi, also known as Brundavan, while he was still alive. This happened at the Brundavan Samadhi Temple, the most essential place to visit in Mantralayam. In 1671 AD, the Guru reached Samadhi.

The main statue of God is in a big building within the large temple complex. The building has a big verandah on the inside, with service rooms and a Samadhi temple in the middle. The main church has a big hall with lines of people waiting to get in, and inside is the inner sanctum, which has Guru Raghavendra's throne.

The silver, sandalwood, and gold on the three carts in the temple are lovely. The chariot pulls the figure of the saint around the temple every day at 8 PM. On big days, a golden wagon serves. The temple is an important part of the Mantralayam tour package.

Which god is Raghavendra the avatar of?

Many people who follow Raghavendra believe that he is a reincarnation of Prahlada, a follower who was saved by Vishnu when he was Narasimha. People say that Shri Raghavendra Swami did many wonders while he was alive.

Brundavan Samadhi Temple History

Fans who go to Mantralaya think that the Saint still lives in his holy form even though he has left this world and will stay in this form for another 700 years after he reaches "Jeeva Samadhi." Dhoti is necessary for male followers who want to do Pooja on their own at Brundavan. Men who come to pray usually have to take off their shirts, and women who come to pray typically have to wear sarees or other traditional clothes.

What is the story behind Raghavendra Swamy?

So, while he worshiped God and helped people, his spiritual teacher, Sri Sudheendra Theertharu, was looking for someone to take over his math. During his dream, the Lord told him that Sri Venkatanatha would be an excellent choice to take over as pope.

At first, Sri Venkatanatha said no because he had to take care of his young wife and son, but soon after, the Goddess of Learning blessed him and told him in a dream that he should seek refuge as a Sanyasi. It was a sign for Sri Venkatanatha, so he changed his mind. In 1621, the Sanyasa was trained on the Phalgun Shukla Dwitiya in Tanjore.
