The Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple is at the very top of Seshachala Hill in Dwaraka Tirumala, which is in the West Godavari state of Andhra Pradesh. People think this temple is as holy as the Sri Venkateswara Temple of Tirumala. The Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple is one of the best places to visit in Rajahmundry.

Sri Venkateshwara Swamy Temple History

Sri Venkateswara Swamy, Lord Vishnu, is the main god here. The temple was built in the 1800s by the Mylavaram Zamindars. A saint named Dwarka found the self-manifested figure of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, which is why the temple is famous as Dwaraka Tirumala. You may also hear about this place called Chinna Tirupati.

Architecture

The lord's figure is above the waist, and the bottom part is in the ground. People say that Bali Chakravarthi got the holy feet in Patala Loka so that he can worship them daily.

A large statue of Lord Venkateswara is said to have been placed by the great social reformer Ramanujacharya in the 11th century. It stands behind the main statue. One unique thing about this temple is that these two idols are in the same inner sanctorum. Ardha Mandapa is where the statues of Goddess Padmavathi and Nanchari are.

The five-story main Rajagopuram of this temple faces south and is a gem of South Indian architecture. There are three other gopuras on each side. Along all four sides of the Prakara, there are several Alwar shrines. Lord Anjaneya Swamy, Garuda, Saint Dwaraka, and an image of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya are other places in the temple. Another exciting thing about the building is that the hill looks like a snake.

Why is Dwaraka Tirumala famous?

Dwaraka Tirumala is a well-known temple that has existed for a long time. Some Puranas say the temple is still famous and draws people in during the Satya Yuga. The Brahma Purana says that Aja Maharaja, Lord Sri Rama's grandfather, also praised Lord Venkateswara for his marriage.

The temple has big celebrations for Brahmotsavam (around May) and Vaikunta Ekadasi (December or January). Twice a year, the Tiru Kalyanotsavam happens. The Dwaraka Tirumala is a must-visit during the Rajahmundry tour package
