Narasimha Pillar

Narasimha Pillar in Belur is one of the primary places included in every Chikamagalur tour package, and it is a famous place for visitors all around the country. The design of the pillar is magnificent, and the design has all the signatures of the Hoysala era. The Pillar is a massive structure, and this pillar is entirely carved out of soapstone. The Narasimha Pillar is over 30 feet in height, and is located in the well-known complex in the Chennakesava Temple, which is another of theĀ top places to visit in Belur.

Within the temple, there are multiple stone pillars with 50 of them in total. All of these pillars are fantastic pieces of architecture. Even among these, the Pillar stands out majestically. Belur Tourism is well-known for these stone pillars, and Narasimha Pillar is the main attraction. The main thing to witness in this Pillar is the form. It has almost every feature of the temple archaeology carved in a nice and miniature form. Every sculpture that is present inside the temple premises is carved in the Narasimha Pillar as well. This factor particularly makes the Narasimha Pillar a marvel of architecture, even among the rest pillars.

Belur Temple Pillar

The Chennakeshava temple is the main complex where the 50 different pillars are present inside the complex. There are many pillars which are famous like the gravity pillar situated in that place. However, the main attraction is this Pillar, which is also known as the Index pillar, and the architectural marvel has already been demonstrated.

Belur Rotating Pillar

The Narasimha Pillar is also known to have its own set of parts and ball bearings. This was initially designed so that the massive pillar can be rotated freely within a fixed circle. The main aim was to demonstrate all of the features present in the temple complex in one single sculpture. However, at present, the rotating feature of the Pillar is not available anymore. Even without it, the Narasimha Pillar still stands as a massive sculpture that is representing every other structure inside that complex.
