Rajpuri caves history

There are four caves, and many water kunds circle these old caves. Many think Lord Kartikeya used these holes for religious ceremonies and penance. People also say the Pandavas lived here while they were on the run. People who follow the religion think that bathing in these holy kunds will heal them of all kinds of illnesses and bad things.

The Lord Kartikeya Temple is very popular. It is a must visit during the trip to the caves. People believe locals built it using sand from the caves. There are several stone plates with writing on them at the entrance to the cave. There are two traditional pictures of Nandi in the front side of the caves. There are two pictures, and one of them is right next to the cave opening. The main thing to see at this temple is the thaipooyam event, which takes place in January and February.

Pune International Airport is the nearest domestic airport at 128 km. After your flight, you can find a comfortable way to get to Mahabaleshwar.

By Train: To reach Mahabaleshwar by train, the closest station is Wathar. However, most tourists prefer Pune Railway Station, which connects easily to major metro cities.
