The Athi Varadhar Temple is a beautiful temple located in Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and in the temple, you will find a 10-foot idol of Lord Athi Varadhar inside the pond. After every 40 years, the idol will be removed, and then worship is done for that idol. 

History of the Athi Varadhar Temple

The Athi Varadhar Temple is considered as one of the oldest temples in Tamil Nadu. It can be believed that during the rule of the Pallavas dynasty, around the 8th century, the temple was constructed. 

However, later the Vijayanagar Empire and other dynasties ruled the place, and all of them contributed a lot towards the development of the temple. You can see beautiful architecture and carvings inside the temple. Not only this, but a mixed style of carvings is also present in the temple.

Architecture of the Athi Varadhar Temple

There are various Mandapams present inside the temple. There is a very Holy tank also in the temple, known as Anantha Saras. In this Tank, only the idol of the god is kept.
