There are many beautiful temples in the city that you could visit to ask God to bless you. For example, the Sikhareswara Swamy temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the 457-meter-high Bhramaramba Mallikarjunaswamy Temple is another well-known temple. The Srisailam hills are near the Nallamala forest. Tourists can see a wide variety of flora and fauna there.

Mythology

There are many stories about Srisailam, but the one about Lord Shiva and Lord Kartikeya making peace with each other might be the best. In a famous intellectual battle, Lord Ganesha beat Lord Kartikeya. It made Lord Kartikeya angry, so he sent Ganesha into exile.

Lord Shiva and Parvati pacified Lord Kartikeya, leading to the famous site, now known as the holy Jyotirlingam Malikarjuna Devasthanam. This site attracts millions of Hindu devotees annually, seeking blessings from the popular God. The city is the only place in India that has both a Jyotirlinga and a Shaktipeeth.

There are many stories about this place, but the one about Princess Chandravati might be the most interesting. The princess moved to this hill after running away from a bad situation at home. One day, she saw one of her cows pouring milk on a natural rock creation that looked like a Shivling. That very day, Lord Shiva showed up in her dream and told her to build a temple there, which she did.
