Akka Mahadevi Caves is a natural beauty and a trendy place to visit in Srisailam in Telangana. They are in a pristine area. The caves have been there for over a million years and are right across the Krishna River, which never stops flowing. The caves are in the Eastern Ghats, a mountain range covering parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The entrance of the caves is natural and stands without any support. It makes for an awe-inspiring sight.

The deep-lying Shivalinga inside the vast maze of paths is the main draw, but it's also a great place for adventurers to stay. The lingam is a famous religious site for Lord Shiva. It has been drawing tourists and visitors for hundreds of years. On the way to the Akkamahadevi Caves, the hills of the Nallamala range along the ghat section are a sight to watch. They offer peaceful, picturesque views of the area.

Why is Akka Mahadevi famous?

The Akka Mahadevi is famous for her 430 Vachana, spontaneous mystical poems. She wrote two short works which are very famous. They were Mantrogopya and the Yogangatrividh. The work is also an essential addition to Kannada literature. She didn't write as many songs as some other saints of the movement.

What is the story of Akka Mahadevi caves?

Since the caves are natural creations, it is difficult to say precisely when they were formed. They are more than a million years old, and Hindus believe they have great divine value. The caves got their name from Akka Mahadevi, a Kannada poet, saint, and philosopher who lived in the 1200s. There are stories in which she did penance and prayed in the caves to the naturally occurring Shiva Lingam deep inside the cave formation.

In which district are the Akkamahadevi caves located?

The Akka Mahadevi caves are in the Kurnool district of Seemandhra, in the Nallamala Hills. It seems likely that the caves have existed since ancient times, and they have been very important to the town's past.

The best time to visit

The area gets very hot in the summer, up to 40 degrees Celsius during the busiest times. The summer months, from July to September, bring heavy rain, but this is also when nature is most peaceful and lush green! The winter is the best time to go for the Srisailam tour package.
