About Chembra Peak

Nestled amidst the tranquil and verdant surroundings of the Western Ghats, Pembra Mountain Peak is a treasure trove of natural resources. Kalpetta is only 17 kilometers from the peak which is considered to be one of the topmost places to visit in Wayanad. Trekking trails of this region are bedecked with surreal beauty not seen anywhere else but here. That is why it’s a meeting hub for many trekkers. Apart from trekking, adventure buffs can get a rush from rock climbing. The town of Meppadi is located very close which makes it simple to trek to the peak.

More about the place

The trekking trails of Chembra Peak speak volumes about the pristine natural charm of the place. Each trekking expedition takes trekkers along and through green tea estates, an experience never to be forgotten. Trekkers from all walks of life, and from far and near congregate here to ascend to the peak. The trail takes them across the lake that looks like a heart. It’s a stopover spot for many visitors. Other tourists also gather here as it is a major tourist hub of Pembra.

The trek begins from the watchtower which is positioned at the bottom of the peak. The entry to the watchtower is usually reached by jeeps hired from Meppadi Town. One must get the permit to trek at the entrance. It takes almost 2 hours to reach the top. Each trekking group is assigned a guide. However, at present trekking is allowed only till the lake.
