The small town of Alibaug, which is sometimes written as Alibaug, is on the coast of Maharashtra. It is in the Konkan area, famous for its beaches, houses, and beautiful scenery. Alibaug is a famous place for people from Mumbai and Pune to go on the weekends, and it offers many exciting places to visit in Alibaug.

The dry season is a great time for water sports in the city. Parasailing, banana boats, jet skis, and speed boats are all very popular. Most tourist families stay in the city for at least one night, and some stay for several nights.

Why is Alibaug so famous?

Alibaug is well-known for its pretty beaches, old forts, and closeness to Mumbai. Because of this, many tourists and famous people like to spend the weekend there. There are water sports in the town, as well as a laid-back vibe and historic places to see, such as Kolaba Fort.

Which month is best to visit?

For beach fun in Alibaug, November through March is the best time to go because the weather is dry and cool. It's not the peak season during the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September. One more thing: the boat service between Mumbai and Alibaug doesn't work when it rains.

From March on, it gets hotter and stays that way until June. However, many families come here for the summer because it's close to Mumbai and Pune, and several Alibaug tour packages are available year-round to suit different travel preferences.

History of Alibaug

"Ashtagare" (Eight Villages) included Revdanda, Chaul, Nagaon, Akshi, Varsoli, Thal, Navgaon, Kihim, and Aawas in Alibaug's neighborhood. Hindus, Muslims, Portuguese Christians, Bene Israel Jews, and Parsis lived there. In addition to its beauty, this place is historically significant. Alibag is a contraction of ‘Ali' (person) and 'Bag/Baag/Baug' (garden).

So Alibag/Alibaug means 'Ali's Garden.' Legend has it that Ali/Eli, a wealthy Bene Israeli, dug several regional wells and gardens. Several mango and coconut plants were in his gardens. Thus, the natives dubbed it “Alichi Bagh" and later Alibaug.
