Dilli Haat is an open-air building where the cultures of all the states come together. There, you can buy well-known handicrafts from all over the land at fair prices. It lets local artists and makers show off, market, and sell their handmade goods. Places to visit in Delhi include Dilli Haat for its vibrant display of diverse crafts and cultural representation.

The food hall is huge and has stands with food from every state in the country. You will be able to get everything from Gatte ki sabzi from Rajasthan to Fish from Bengal. Besides that, you will also be able to enjoy some cultural events that happen here every once in a while.

History

The Delhi Tourism Department, the Government of Delhi, the Ministry of Textiles, and the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India all worked together to build Dilli Haat INA in the early 1990s. The other Dilli Haats were built prior to the year 2100. Over time, small things have been added, for example, a food area, wheelchair access, and a bathroom that works.

What is special about Dilli Haat?

Dilli Haat was constructed to protect Indian culture, and to promote it. It serves as a great spot for all types of travellers to experience the traditions and culture of 29 Indian states in one place. The inclusion of Dilli Haat in your DELHI TOUR PACKAGE will surely provide you with a different cultural experience along with the most colourful demonstration of Indian handicrafts.

A few shops stay here all the time, but most of them move every two weeks for a small fee of Rs.100 per day. This means that every time you come here, you will find new sellers.

Spend a great day here by talking to artists from all over the country and learning about their craft. You can also eat, shop, and do other fun things. Remember to deal to get the item at a fair price. It is a great place to buy mementoes. Things here start at just Rs.50.

Architecture

The village-like red stone and brick setup will captivate visitors to Haat. It covers 6 acres. The architecture is typical of North Indian residences and Jaipur bazaars. All of these shops are modest cottages with stone roofs.

The colourful Chikankari Kurtis and Kolhapuri Chappals give the venue a vivid, ethnic flavour. Flowers and plants make it look lovely and harmonious. A modest stage supported by a magnificent graffiti wall is an excellent photo spot.

Which is the oldest, Dilli Haat?

Dilli Haats are found in 3 places in New Delhi. The first one, though, is about Dilli Haat INA. The other two Dilli Haats, Dilli Haat Pitampura and Dilli Haat Janakpuri, were built more recently and are smaller. They only have markets and events during certain holidays, like Teej, Rakhi, Diwali, Karwa Chauth, and so on.
