The Lotus Temple is a building for the Baha'i faith in New Delhi, which is the country's capital. This building's beautiful structure expands into the shape of a dazzling white petal lotus. It is one of the most popular places in the world. In addition, it is among the most interesting places to visit in Delhi.

The Canadian builder Fariborz Sahba came up with the idea for this shrine, and it was finished in 1986. This temple is open to everyone, no matter their nationality, faith, race, or gender, and its goal is to spread the idea that God is one. It is one of the seven Baha'i Houses of Worship located around the world.

What is special about Lotus Temple Delhi?

The Lotus Temple, or the Baha'i House of Worship, is located in Delhi, India. People consider it one of the most exquisite architectural wonders. The architect designed it in the shape of a lotus flower, with 27 petals made of marble, pointing toward purity and unity in religion. Open spaces and the central hall create an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood among the viewers. That is the reason it attracts so much for prayer purposes, meditational purposes, and architecture overview. The Lotus Temple is one of the finest places to be visited during the Delhi tour package.

The architecture of Lotus Temple Delhi

They made the building out of Greek white marble and shaped it like a lotus flower. They chose the lotus flower because it is representative of so many religions, among which are Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Islam. The House of Worship in New Delhi is constructed using 27 freestanding "petals" made of marble, clustered in groups of three to form nine sides.

Nine doors in the Lotus Temple lead to a central hall that can fit up to 2,500 people. The design of the Temple eliminates the need for any outside lighting in the huge prayer hall. The light comes in through the Lotus's inner folds and spreads out through the temple hall, acting like a window. Along with the landscaping and nine ponds around the temple, the Temple grounds cover 26 acres.

Who built the Bahai temple?

Iranian-Canadian architect Fariborz Sahba designed the Baha'i House of Worship. It is famous as the Lotus Temple. The British firm Flint and Neill did the structural design. ECC Construction Group of Larsen & Toubro Limited handled the construction.

Which God is in Lotus Temple Delhi?

One of the Baha'i Houses of Worship is known as the Lotus Temple. Baha'is believe in the oneness of God and unity among all religions—that significant religions have divine origins. They think that the founders of these religions, such as Abraham, Krishna, Zoroaster, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad, were manifestations of God. So, no particular God has been dedicated to the Lotus Temple; it is a place where people of any religion can worship.
