India is full of people who love art, and the National Gallery of Modern Arts (NGMA) is like heaven for those people. The National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi keeps paintings and other works of the 1850s because it wants to give its guests a great world of art. The National Gallery is one of the best places to visit in Delhi.

The main museum in the Jaipur House is the NGMA in Delhi. The Indian Government set it up on March 29, 1954. It is the biggest of the three branches, with an area of 12000 square meters. The other two are in Mumbai and Bangalore. The gallery helps people make connections between modern art and something important to them as people.

Collection at the museum

Many of the more than 14,000 works of art in the Gallery are very old, some dating back more than 150 years. At the modern art museum, you can see the work of Thomas Daniell, Abanindranath Tagore, Raja Ravi Verma, Gajendranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore, and Nandalal Bose. Tourists can also see many other painters and artists from different countries. Through its many art galleries and exhibits, it shows a perfect mix of modern and contemporary art. Then go there and let the artist in you enjoy the beautiful world of new ideas.

The NGMA has works by more than 17,000 artists. Each one is different and has its important message. These are both a reminder of the wonderful and rich past and a respect for the smart present.

What is the architecture of the National Gallery of Modern Art Delhi?

The building is at the end of Rajpath, in the Central Hexagon, around the India Gate. It used to be the Maharaja of Jaipur's home, which is why it is called Jaipur House. The building is in the shape of a butterfly and has a dome in the middle. The beautiful architecture of the museum makes it worth visiting during the Delhi tour package.

It was planned by Sir Arthur Blomfield and built in 1936 after Lutyens' Delhi was finished. Sir Edwin Lutyens created the Central Hexagon, which was the area around the India Gate. This was where the buildings of the most important princely states were located.

Who was the founder of the National Gallery of Modern Art?

It was Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Maulana Azad, bureaucrats like Humayun Kabir, and a busy art community who came up with the idea for a national art gallery in 1949. Finally, on March 29, 1954, Vice President Dr. Radhakrishnan opened the National Gallery of Modern Art with Pandit Nehru in attendance.
