The NMNH is situated in the FICCI building on Barakhamba Road. It is close to Connaught Place and across the street from the Embassy of Nepal. The museum is run by the Indian government's Ministry of Environment and Forests. China has two Natural History Museums. This one is in Delhi. The other one is in Mysore. This museum is one of the most famous places to visit in Delhi.

Why is the National Museum in Delhi famous?

Over 200,000 works of art, artifacts, and other items from more than 5,000 years of Indian cultural history are in the National Museum in New Delhi. The museum is famous for its collection. The museum has the following collections:

Paintings in miniature: It has one of the biggest collections of miniature paintings in India. It has paintings from all the major styles, such as Deccani, Mughal, Rajasthani, and Pahari mural paintings.

The only Buddhist shrine mural works that are outside of their home countries.

Archaeologists found holy remains of the Buddha in Piprahwa, Basti district, between the 5th and 4th centuries B.C. Buddhist art includes these remains.

Decorative arts, weapons and armor, jewelry, texts, and other kinds of art are all included in this category.

Artifacts: This section has costumes, jewelry, valuable stones, a bronze statue of a dancing man from Mohenjo Daro, and artifacts from Central Asia.

Other things: It has musical instruments, handwritten memories of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir, and writings.

Some people say the museum is well-known and real. If you have an interest in Indian history and culture, it's a great place to go. Some say you spends at least a whole day at the museum seeing everything because the collections are spread out over three floors.

Where is the history and purpose of the National Museum of Natural History situated in Delhi?

A museum called the NMNH was built in 1972 to mark India's 25th year of freedom. The late Smt. Indira Gandhi, who was the Prime Minister of India, came up with the idea for the Museum to show people how diverse India's wildlife is. It was open to the public for the first time on June 5, 1978, which was World Environment Day.

The museum teaches people about natural history, ecology, and the environment. It shows them many examples from nature and different ways to protect forests, wildlife, land, water, and air. There are also a lot of stuffed animals and birds in this museum. The museum is a must-visit during the Delhi tour package.
