Daria Daulat Bagh is situated nearby to the bank of River Cauvery in Srirangapatna. From the moment you stepped into the entrance to the ceilings of the palace, the place is filled with vibrant architectural works. Daria Daulat Bagh is sitting on the lap of greenery lush garden and a vast open space of tranquil, clear air. The exterior walls of the palace show scenes of war and the interior walls present you with Indo-Islamic geometric and floral works. There is a museum present solely dedicated to Tipu Sultan, which has a rich collection of paintings, memorabilia, coins, and manuscripts.     

Summer Palace for Tipu Sultan

The alternative name of this place in Srirangapatna is the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan. The Palace had finished its construction in 1784 by Tipu Sultan’s father, Haider Ali. The majestic place is built following the Indo-Saracen Style. The architectural designs are exquisite as the minute details are carved carefully in the teakwood. As history goes, the majestic, grand place was built by Haider using the money came from the sea trade.

After the demise of Tipu Sultan, the palace was taken by Colonel Wellesly, and later Lord Dalhousie took significant steps to preserve the integrity and royalty of the place. He ordered the renovation of Daria Daulat Bagh. In 1959, the Summer Palace or Daria Daulat Bagh was recognized as the National Monument of India.       

Entry Fee in Daria Daulat Bagh

This is an area where you touch and feel the Tipu Sultan era. The historical significance of the place attracts not only the Indians as well as Foreigners tourists too. The entrance fee for the Indians is INR 15 per head whereas, for foreigners, it is INR 100 per head. Typically, the recording is prohibited but if you are eager to snap the memories of here in Mysore, then pay INR 25 to get through the official gates.
