Sri Nimishamba Temple Overview
Sri Nimishamba Temple is situated on the road to the sangam of banks of Cauvery River in Srirangapatna. The elegant, magnificent temple is dedicated to the creator of the universe, Goddess Durga. The idol present in Sri Nimishamba Temple is known as the deity Sri Nimishamba, who is another avatar of Goddess Durga or Parvati, who is also the wife of Lord Shiva. The Sri Nimishamba Temple architectural designs are excellent and became one of the must places to visit in Srirangapatna.
In front of the idol of Sri Nimishamba, Sreechakra is carved on a stone which is known as Mukthikeshwara (another incarnation of Lord Shiva). Other than Goddess Parvati, other deities are also present in the stunning temple; they are Goddess Saraswati, Goddess Lakhsmi, Lord Ganesh, and Hanuman. The idols of the deities Lakhsmi and Saraswati are made up of cement base.
The Temple is renowned to have grant wishes of the devotees. It’s a mystifying rumor which still Sri Nimishamba Temple holds.
History of Sri Nimishamba Temple
The Sri Nimishamba Temple was by MummadiKrishnaraja during his reign in the Wodeyar Kingdom. It had completed its construction around 400 years ago. When you’ll visit this temple during your Srirangapatna tourism, you’ll notice its sanctum is relatively smaller but it has seven floors. The Sreechakra was carved by a King Mukhtharaja. The entrance of the temple is as grand as you can imagine. The architectural hands on this temple were fluent with minute details.
Sri Nimishamba Temple Timings
The usual timing schedules of all temples in Srirangapatna, Sri Nimishamba Temple is also open every day. Tourists and devotees can visit any day. The doors open at as early as 05:00 am and closes at 08:30 pm. The Abhishektam Hours is from 06:30 am – 07:30 am. The MahaNaivedya is from 12:00 pm- 12:30 pm.
The tourists must adjust their visiting schedule in Srirangapatna tour package according to the Darshan timings, which are from 07:30 am to noon, 04:00 pm to 06:30 pm, and 07:30 pm to 08:30 pm. The Pradosha Kala Abhshektam takes place in selective days, viz from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. The timings are subjective to change on special occasional days.
