About Bamboo rafting

With trees submerged under the water for over a hundred years, the site becomes extremely exciting. The major attraction here is the distinct kind of raft made in the tribal form with sturdy Bamboos stems tied together into one big and strong raft.

Major Attractions

1. Rafting-

You will be taken to the rafting site on a boat from where you shall be taken to the rapid for your exciting Bamboo Rafting with all the prior protection provided including life jackets and proper guides to handle yourself against the heavy waterfront. This is one of the adventures and Thekkady Tourist Places you will never want to miss. The River Rafting session will take you to the exact spot from where the middle half of your Bamboo Rafting trip begins.

2. Trekking.

After the Rafting session, you will be taken on over a two-hour-long trek by the Trekking expert/guides of the location. A total of four guides shall accompany you along with an armed one in order to ensure the group's safety within the wild habitat. The trek gives you an opportunity to explore the depths of nature within the Sanctuary and if you get lucky you can even spot elegant Deers, massive Elephants, Langurs or Giant Squirrels on your long trek while you go by the magnificent lake. Bird Spotting is a definite advantage that the site offers. 

3. Accommodation.

If you want to enjoy the raw jungle beauty for longer, you may book a room within the jungle premises built purely with Bamboos. Living amidst the wild nature has a distinct feel of its own which on must experience if visiting Thekkady's renowned Periyar. The Campsite available here is a major attraction when it comes to spending a night here.

4. Food.

Worried about untimely hunger pangs? Don't worry, your packages will take good care of your timely snacks and lunch which will be provided during the trek right before restarting the return rafting journey.
