People often go on one-day treks to Tikona Fort, a strong hill fortress in the Pawana Maval area of the Konkan. In consonance with the shape description, the fort is more commonly called a three-sided structure. The height above mean sea level is approximately 3,500 feet, with very high walls and wide doors. Builders constructed seven water tanks with wholesome drinking water at the fort, offering beautiful views from the top.

This Walk from Tikona Peth to the top of the hill is excellent for people who like to take risks. The trail will lead through several caves, shrines, and water tanks. It has diminished on one side by passage through the long, winding parapet, which induces one to be contemplative about the views one takes in from it.

Why Is Tikona Fort Known as a Beginner-Friendly Trek?

The walk only lasts 1.5 to 2 hours, making it easy for kids and first-time hikers. Most of the route is simple to navigate. However, a few steep sections near the top require essential fitness. The handbook greatly helped people familiarize themselves with the ride, reducing the chances of them getting lost. The Kona Fort trek does not involve any problematic climbing—just the perfect choice for those people who enjoy a casual and tranquil walk.

A well-planned schedule is necessary for a smooth walking trip at the Kona Fort. People also consider it one of the places to visit in Lonavala, attracting nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Unique Triangular Shape and Its Historical Significance

'Maval' are the 12 smaller pieces of land that make up the area between Sahyadri (the Western Ghats) and the Konkan Coast. As one of the four principal forts of the Pawana Maval, Tikona Fort was significant for protecting the area, and the other three forts were Lohagad, Visapur, and Tung.

People don't know much about the origins of this now-mossy, looming building. In 1585, I took over the Nizam Badshah Malik Ahmad Nizam Shah. Since then, many people have been in charge of the immense fortress. There is a small hill in the middle of Tikona Hill Fort, which is how it got its name.

Best Time to Trek

It gets hot and muggy here in the summer. The temperature will be between 25 and 35 degrees—people from the area plan to go hiking at night to beat the summer heat. The rainy season lasts from June to September. The weather stays nice, and a thin layer of lush green forest covers the area. In Tikona, winter lasts from October to March. In the winter, it gets between 11 and 25 degrees. As the rain clouds fade, they leave lush green hills covered in dew behind. Many travelers opt for a Lonavala tour package to explore the region's scenic beauty across different seasons.
