Goddess Nanda Devi, considered to be a manifestation of Goddess Durga and the wife of Lord Shiva, has an old shrine. It is located in the serene panoramas of the Kumaon highlands. She is also revered as the patron goddess of the regions of Garhwal and Kumaon. The Nanda Devi Temple is housed within the grounds of a Shiva temple. An amalaka, or stone crown, adorns this magnificent building.

Beautiful sculptures that adorn the temple's walls add to its beauty. It also demonstrates the craftsmanship of the artists of that era. These original carvings resemble animated pictures and figures. At the temple, thousands of devotees from all across Uttarakhand and the neighboring states come for the grand Nanda Devi fair.
