Anantha Shayana temple Karkala

The Sri Anantashayana Temple in Karkala is an old temple and one of the notable PLACES TO VISIT IN KARKALA. This temple is for Lord Ananthapadmanabha, another name for Lord Vishnu. In the 15th century, this building was a Jain Basadi. At that time, Sringeri Jagadguru Sri Narasimha Bharathi Swamiji visited Karkala. The Jain King was very happy to see him. But Swamiji said he would only stay if a temple had the Lord inside it. The king gave the Jain Basadi to His Holiness Sringeri Swamiji and put up a statue of Lord Vishnu made of stone.

Chaturmukha basadi

Chaturmukha Basadi is an old temple with a beautiful design that is one of the most revered Jain temples in Karnataka. Vir Pandya Deva built the complex around 1432 AD. It is skillfully placed on a steep hill in the town. The temple has 108 pillars holding a large slab of granite that forms the flat roof. The name of the complex comes from the fact that there are four entrances, one in each direction, that lead to the garbhagriha. Please go there to learn about its wonderful past and design. Gomatheshwara statue, Karkala

Karkala village is famous for the huge statue of Gomateshwara Bahubali, which stands alone, making it one of the prominent PLACES TO VISIT IN KARKALA. Adinath, the first Jain Tirthankara, had a son named Bahubali. In 1432 AD, King Vir Pandya of the Kalasa-Karkala family built it. It was during this time that Jainism reached its peak in the South Canara area of Karnataka. You can only get the Gomateshwara monolith figure, surrounded by high brick walls.

Kere Basadi Karkala

The beautiful Kere Basadi Jain temple is in the middle of a lake. This spot is in Varanga, a significant site for Jains on pilgrimage. The village of Varanga is 26 km away from Karkala in the district of Udupi and is one of the most holy places in Mangalore. Neminatha Basadi

Mulnayak Bhagavan Neminath is the main god of this temple. There is a 54-foot-tall Manasthambha in front of the Basadi, which was cut from a single rock. This complex also includes the Bhujabali Brahmacharya Ashram and the basadis for Lord Mahavir, Chandranath Swamy, Adinath Swamy, Ananthanath, and Padmavathi.
