What is the history of the Bagh?
Moti Bagh is famous for its luscious foliage and luxuriant gardens. Nawab Muhammad Mahabat Khanji III of Junagadh created it commemorating his dog Moti. In 1960, a portion of this garden was used to build Junagadh Agriculture College.
The garden covers an area of 2,485 hectares, including the 754.62 hectares of the Agricultural University of Junagadh's campus and botanical garden. Currently, the entire scope of this garden is divided into 17 sub-centers, which employ about 1500 people.
Recently, the Gujarat government has been focusing on tourism growth in Junagadh. The Apoorva Garden Moti Baug, located around the 19th-century palace, has been preserved and marketed as a recreational area for tourists and residents.
