BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a Hindu temple in Rajkot in Gujarat state. It is the most famous temple among the places to visit in Rajkot

The temple has three main temples with different Gods. The first temple has an idol of Harikrishna Maharaj, made from an alloy of five metals. The other two idols are Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. These idols are of Marble. 

The temple has the idols of Lord Swaminarayan, Nul Akshar Swami and Gopalananda Swami. The icons are of Marble. The third shrine has the idol of Ghanshyam Maharaj made of Marble. In addition, visitors can also see the icons of Bhahatji Maharaj, Yogiji Maharaj and Shashtriji Maharaj in the temple.

What is BAPS's full form?

The complete form of BAPS is Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha. It is a place with spiritual Hindu faith, having knowledge since the era of the Vedas. In the 18th century, it was revealed by Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The mandir came into existence by Shastriji Maharaj in 1907.

What is the history of BAPS mandir in Rajkot?

In 1998, the temple came into existence by Swaminarayan Sampradaya. The temple is in the honour of Lord Swaminarayan. The temple follows the belief of the Swaminarayan Sampraday and also belongs to the Vaishnav tradition.
 
The temple style is in the ancient vedic Shilpa Shastra techniques. There is no contemporary building material used in the construction. The temple is made of Ambaji marble and Udaipur pink marble. Similar stones are used in the Akshardham temple at Gandhinagar.  

Who is the owner of BAPS, Shri Swaminarayan Mandir?

Since August 2016. Mahant Swami Maharaj is the guru and president of BAPS. He is the 6th guru of BAPS. According to the philosophy of BAPS, the followers and the devotees worship Swaminarayan as god or Purushottam.
