The 9th-century temple Chakra Gudi is located on the southern extremity of the Durga Temple Complex, 200 meters south of Durga Temple. This Shiva temple is famous for its intricate carvings of the Garuda and two snakes. One of the places to visit in Aihole is this temple.
This temple is located on the southernmost point of the Durga temple Complex. The Indian government's federal archaeological survey has declared this temple a monument of national significance and is guarding it.
Its direction is east. Ranga Mandapa and Sanctum make up the temple. The 20 statues of lovers engraved on the sanctuary entrance frame of this temple are well-known. On the lintel of the sanctum are carvings of Garuda holding two snakes. The shikara over the sanctuary is built in the Nagara architecture style. The amalaka atop the shikara of the temple gives it the name Chakragudi. Next to the Chakra Gudi, there is a Pushkarini.
The best time to visit Chakra Gudi
The best time to visit Aihole is from October to March since the weather is excellent and visitors have a great time. In December and January, the temperature is only mildly to moderately cold. The months of April through September are scorching and unsuitable for travel. When planning the Aihole tour package, remember to include the temple in your itinerary.
