The Suryanarayana Gudi temple is 100 meters south of the Durga temple. The temple is beside the Ladkhan temple, built in the 7th or 8th century. The temple is in Rekha-Nagara style, dedicating itself to God Surya. It is one among the places to visit in Aihole.
You may see horses pulling Usha and Sandhya in the Suryanarayana Gudi temple. They are seen dragged by a tall statue of Surya with his consorts. The temple includes an inner sanctum along with four pillars. It has a tower on top in Nagara style.
It has a small mandapa with four pillars. The temple has a rangamandira with four tall pillars and 12 half pillars. It shows illustrations such as clutching two snakes, Ganga and Yamuna. You can also witness a depiction of Surya in a sitting position on the sanctum’s door frame.
Tourists can also see a statue of God Surya. The sanctum has 4 pillars, which look odd. The Sikhara also seems damaged. Don't forget to include the temple in your itinerary when planning the Aihole tour package.
