Lord Shiva is the subject of the Hindu temple Jambulinga Temple. It is located near Pattadakal in the Karnataka state's Bagalkot District. The Pattadakal group of structures, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, includes this temple. It is one of the must-see places to visit in Pattadakal.
The temple complex is on the Malaprabha River's western bank. Jambulinga Temple is another name for this temple. The temple dates to the middle of the seventh or eighth century. The Archaeological Survey of India is in charge of the monument, which is a protected site according to Indian legislation.
Architecture of Jambulinga Temple
The design of the northern Rekha-nagara temple features a curved shape of squares. The squares get smaller as they ascend to the sky. However, the north style's amalaka and kalasha are broken and missing. Three shakhas with Poornakumbham beneath each capital adorn the entrance to the Jambu Lingeshwara mandapam.
The hallway has a swan theme inside it. It has the brittle remains of swans, Kutas, and Salas sculptures. Its floor plan and building time are comparable to the Kadasiddeshwar temple's. The temple is on a square garbhagriha with elaborate Devakoshtha on its exterior walls.
Tourists can see Vishnu, Surya, and Lakulisha on the frames' north, west, and south sides, respectively. The rectangular garbhagriha has a Lingam on a Pitha. It is open to an Antarala in front, which grows into a mandap. The temple also tries projecting Tsukasa over the mandapa from the shikhara in front.
