The oldest temple in Pattadakal is Sangameshwara Temple, located inside the temple complex between Galaganatha and Virupaksha Temples. Vijayaditya, the king of the Chalukyas, ordered its construction in 720 AD. However, it appears that it was never finished. This shrine to Lord Shiva is smaller than Virupaksha Temple but has a similar design.

Around 733 AD, the Chalukya ruler Vijayaditya Satyashraya constructed it. As the oldest temple in this area and one of the oldest in India, this temple is a must-see place in Pattadakal for all visitors. The building has an interior passage, a hall, and a shrine and is an example of Dravidian architecture. The sculptures that adorn this temple's facade feature Nataraja and Ugra Narasimha.

Since Chalukya's density of more than 1400 years, the temple still holds spiritual, cultural, and rich legacy values. The temple has a unique architectural style and is famous for Dravidian and Nagara-style temples. The temple is quite popular, especially among history and architecture lovers. The best time for the Pattadakal tour package is during the festivals. However, it can be visited at any time of the year. The temple is now under the maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India.
