Temi Tea Garden is beautiful in South Sikkim. There is a sole tea garden of Sikkim, and a lot of people consider it to be among the best of India. It is one of the attractions and best places to visit in Ravangla.

The Sikkim Government planted it over 440 acres and developed it in 1969 CE. According to history, Sikkim's last king began tea cultivation so that Tibetans, who were forced to leave their native country due to the Chinese invasion, could get employment. Initially, a small tea farm was established in Kewzing. Then they shifted it to Temi and established a full-fledged processing plant there.

Temi Tea Garden History

Before they built this estate, Sherpa Village existed, with nurseries on ten acres run by the Forest Department. The Missionary Building, which served as both the office and home of the Divisional Forest Officer, was surrounded by these gardens. During the time that India was a British colony, this house was an important landmark for Scottish missions.

The Government of Sikkim took it over in 1954. In 1969, the government turned the land into the Temi Tea estate. The land's slopes are part of the Tendong hill range. Today, the business runs according to the rules set by the Tea Board, an organization of the state government. To encourage the production of high-quality tea, the Sang-Martam Tea Growers' Cooperative Society was formed.

Scenic Tea Plantations and Rolling Hills

They set the Temi Tea Garden in a beautiful mountain valley full of ferns and cherry blossom trees. During the tea-picking season, this is a lovely place to see people picking tea. You can visit the plant to learn how they interestingly make tea. You can explore this and more with Ravangla tour packages.

If you go to the park, you can enjoy beautiful views of snow-covered Mount Khangchendzonga. Take a walk through the beautiful tea garden and look at the birds, flowers, and untouched Himalayan villages. You can also go to Ravangla, which is close by, to do a trek up Maenam Hill, or you can start in Damthang and hike up to Tendong Hill.

Best Time to Visit

You can enjoy a trip to the Temi Tea Estate from March to May when the sun is not too hard on the face. The weather is nice, and the area is decorated with fields of bright rhododendrons and flowers.

After May, November is a great time to enjoy the garden's beauty. From July to October, before November, it rains there, and from December to February, it snows. Because of this, you should go when the cherry flowers are at their fullest, and the land looks greener and more welcoming as winter approaches.
