Temi Tea Garden is beautiful in South Sikkim. There is a sole tea garden of Sikkim, and a lot of people consider it to be among the best of India. It is one of the attractions and best places to visit in Ravangla.
The Sikkim Government planted it over 440 acres and developed it in 1969 CE. According to history, Sikkim's last king began tea cultivation so that Tibetans, who were forced to leave their native country due to the Chinese invasion, could get employment. Initially, a small tea farm was established in Kewzing. Then they shifted it to Temi and established a full-fledged processing plant there.
Temi Tea Garden History
Before they built this estate, Sherpa Village existed, with nurseries on ten acres run by the Forest Department. The Missionary Building, which served as both the office and home of the Divisional Forest Officer, was surrounded by these gardens. During the time that India was a British colony, this house was an important landmark for Scottish missions.
The Government of Sikkim took it over in 1954. In 1969, the government turned the land into the Temi Tea estate. The land's slopes are part of the Tendong hill range. Today, the business runs according to the rules set by the Tea Board, an organization of the state government. To encourage the production of high-quality tea, the Sang-Martam Tea Growers' Cooperative Society was formed.
