Bhaironghati is a small village in the northern Indian highlands at the confluence of the Jadh Ganga and Bhagirathi rivers. It is in the district of Uttarkashi in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

Gangotri's Bhaironghati, the shrine of Bhairav Nath, has a beautiful deep forest. It makes it easy to go to the Jahnavi River. It is around 10 kilometers from Gangotri. The Bhairon Ghati is a must-see among the places to visit in Gangotri.

Bhairon Ghati is near the confluence of the Jadh Ganga and the Bhagirathi River. Travelers can see the multicolored Bhagirathi (Ganga) in Bhairon Ghati. It joins with the blue river Jahnavi or Jadh Ganga, which originates in the Neelong range. At Bhairon Ghati, a Bhairav Nath Temple has deep forests, making it worth visiting.

Bhaironghati History

According to legend, Ganga left Lord Shiva's matted hair and followed King Bhagiratha. It upset the sage Jahnu, who was in penance on the route to Gangotri. As a result, the sage became irritated and drank the water with his thighs. He permitted Ganga to leave through his ears at the behest of King Bhagiratha.

According to belief, Bhairav is a form of Shiva that protects a Shakti Peeth from enemy attacks, which is why Bhairav temples are near all Shakti Peethas. Travelers can find the Bhairava temples or shrines within or near most Jyotirlinga temples, India's famous twelve Shiva shrines.

Ghati route

The Bhairon shrine was not famous before. It only came to light when the holy Temple came under the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in 1986. The road or route leading to the Temple needed to be in better condition, making the ascent extremely arduous. Following the Board's takeover of this Temple, the focus was on the region's development and the path that led to this Temple. GANGOTRI TOUR PACKAGE is complete with a visit to Bhaironghati.
