History 

Pandavas resided here during their exile, according to mythical texts. Pandavas remained here during their exile in the Mahabharata period, according to mystical traditions. Locals claim that whoever entered these caves never returned.

It is a belief that they rested in this cave when the Pandavas were on their way to Kailash after the Mahabharat conflict. They conducted Yajna and penance to achieve moksha. According to legend, on the journey, Pandavas' eldest brother, Yudhistir, elected to reside in this cave because his father, Pandu, had done penance there; some even call it Pandu Gufa.

The weather here is frigid throughout the winter season. The temperature here drops dramatically during the winter season due to heavy snowfall. Due to solid rainfall-threatening landslides, traveling out of here during the rainy season is difficult.
