Gaumukh is India's second-largest Glacier, measuring 30 kilometers in length and 4 kilometers in width, behind Siachen. Shivling is one of the Himalayan peaks observed on this hike. The Gaumukh - Tapovan - Nandanvan Circuit, one of the most popular and rewarding treks in the Garhwal Himalayas, not only allows you to camp at the foot of a majestic Himalayan peak, but it also involves traversing the vast Glacier, the source of the Ganga River.

According to Hindu legend, Gaumukh is the source of the sacred river Ganga, which Hindus worship. What is the best time for Gaumukh?

The best season to visit Gaumukh - Tapovan Trek is usually in the summer and fall, from May to June and September to the last week of October. Winters and rains in this area are exceedingly unpleasant. Thus, the trek remains closed during those months.
