Nandanvan history

According to folklore, it is Goddess Ganga's shrine, and this pious spot is a component of Char Dham, which is dear to Hindu mythology and Hindu devotees.

In the 19th century, Amar Singh Thapa built a 19th-century Gangotri temple, worshiping the purest deity Ganga. It is a belief that the nearby hot water springs will clean sins.

King Sagar sent 60,000 sons to Saint Kapil Muni Ashram during a Tretayug – maha Ashwamedha Yagna. Still, the horse got lost, leading to the saint turning them into ashes.

Kapila then instructed Anshuman (King Sagar's grandson) to implore Goddess Ganga to come to Earth, purify all the ashes, and offer redemption, but he failed.

Bhagirathi's intense concentration caused Goddess Ganga to descend to Earth. Lord Shiva bound Ganga and then divided the water into several streams to spare the land from the overwhelming force. Bhagirathi is Ganga Maa's second name.
