In Hinduism, Kunjapuri Devi Mandir is a famous site of great significance. One of Uttarakhand's 52 Shakti Peeth, Kunjapuri Devi Temple is on a hill at a height of 1676 meters. The chest of burned Sati had fallen here at the temple of Kunjapuri Devi.

The Kunjapuri Devi Temple provides breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and summits, including Gangotri, Chaukhamba, Bandarpunch, and Swarga Rohini. The RISHIKESH TOUR PACKAGE must include visiting the Kunjapuri Devi Mandir because it is an incredible spot.

Kunjapuri Devi Mandir history

Goddess Parvati, also famous as Sati, marries Lord Shiva. But her father, King Daksha, is unsatisfied with their Yagna, causing Sati to go uninvited. Despite attempts by Master Shiva, she remains determined to marry Lord Shiva.

Ruler Daksha embarrasses Sati, leading to her death in a conciliatory fire. Lord Shiva is separated and devastated at the Yagna, transferring Sati's body to him and initiating the decimation of Tandav, which would eventually destroy the Universe.

God Brahma and Lord Vishnu feared Sati's resurrection if her body wasn't incinerated, leading to Lord Shiva's pain and decimation of the Universe. Lord Vishnu cut Sati's body into pieces, and her body parts fell, creating Shaktipeeth. These are the locations where people worship temples and ask Shakti for blessings.

Is Kunjapuri a Shakti peeth?

As one of the three Shakti Peethas in the Tehri district founded by Jagadguru Shankaracharya and one of the thirteen Shakti Peethas in the Shivalik range, Kunjapuri is a shrine for Goddess Durga.

The months from May to October are the ideal times to visit Kunjapuri Temple because of the intense heat on the hilltop. You can see the temple all year long with appropriate clothing and accessories in your bag. Indeed, of all the PLACES TO VISIT IN RISHIKESH, the Kunjapuri temple is a must-visit.

If you are someone who needs to participate in extraordinary festivities, Navratri is the ideal time for you. Typically, Navratri takes place in October or November. You can peek into the Hindu holiday celebration and enjoy the rituals, social rites, and member happiness.
