Uttarakhand has two Hanuman Chatti: one on the Yamunotri route and the other on the Badrinath Highway between Govindghat and Badrinath. A modest, saffron-coloured temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman is visited by nearly every pilgrim on their Char Dham Yatra.

Hanuman Chatti is a little location that only requires a few minutes of stopping to view the temple. There are no eateries or large stores. The Hanuman temple is at the confluence of the Hanuman Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Hanuman Chatti (2,400mts), located 13 kilometres before Yamunotri Dham, is tranquil. Hanuman Chatti's picturesque riverfront splendor is ideal for experiencing nature and the countryside.

Travellers visit Hanuman Chatti because it is a renowned hiking destination in the area. Besides Yamunotri, Hanuman Chatti's best trekking expedition is to Darwa Top and Dodi Tal. It is one of the must-see places to visit in Yamunotri.

Mythology of Hanuman Chatti

Bheema, a Pandava, was in exile in the Himalayas when Draupadi demanded the Saugandhika flower. He searched for the flower but couldn't find it. He reached Hanuman Chatti, where he killed numerous animals on his way. Lord Hanuman decided to teach Bheema a lesson to break his pride and fulfil his wife's wish.
Bheema encountered an old monkey blocking his path with his tail. Despite attempts to scare him, the monkey refused to move. Angry, the monkey asked Bheema to move his seat and place it by the side.

Bheema, humiliated by a monkey's tail, realized he was not ordinary. Realizing he was Hanuman, Lord of Monkeys, he asked for forgiveness. Hanuman blessed Bheema and instructed him to find a flower in Kubera's garden.

What is the height of the Hanuman Chatti?

The town is at an elevation of approximately 2,400 metres above sea level. It has a stunning natural landscape around it. In Hindu mythology, the city is named after Lord Hanuman, who is said to have stopped here on his way to Lanka to rescue Sita, Lord Rama's spouse.

The best time to visit

Summer months from May to November are good for visiting Badrinath. May to June are the most congested months when the pilgrim rush is at its zenith. September to October are ideal for more relaxing travel. Set out on a fantastic vacation with the YAMUNOTRI TOUR PACKAGE, which captures the spirit of this magnificent destination.
