Chathravata Narasimha Temple

One of the nine Nrusimha Kshetrams in Ahobilam is Chatravati. It takes half a km to get to Yogananda Nrusimha Kshetra and 3 km to get to Lower Ahobilam from this temple. It is 10 km away from the Pranava Nrusimha Shrine. Chatravata Nrusimha looks the most beautiful of all nine Nrusimha Shrines. In the Shrine, people pray to the gods. What is the meaning of Chatravata?

The word "tree" is "vata'' and the word "umbrella" is "chatram." She is famous as Chatravata Nrusimha and lives under the Peepal Tree. Here, Indra and other gods asked Nrusimha to kill Hiranyakashipu. The appearance of Nrusimha comes with a charming smile that has begun to fade. If a devotee knows how to play music, they should show it to Chatravata Nrusimha and ask for his blessings. They think that with his help, they can reach a high level.    

Chathravata Narasimha Temple History 

After Hiranyakasipa was killed, Nrusimha got very angry. To calm him down, two singing Gandhavas named Haa Haa and Hoo Hoo came down from Meru Mountain and played music. It looks like God is adding rhythm to the song with his left hand. Nrusimha wished them luck in becoming well-known. This temple has statues of haa haa and hoo hoo. There are thorn trees all around the temple, which is under a Peepal (Ravi) tree.
