The huge and beautiful 800-year-old Prahladavarada Narasimha Temple is where the Prahladavarada Narasimha, the form of Lord Narasimha greeting Prahlada, lives. The temple is in Lower Ahobilam. It's one of the best places to see in Ahobilam.
Tourists can see Narasimha Swami in a calm form in lower Ahobila. There are also Utsava idols of Prahlada Varada and Pavana Narasimha in the center, as well as processional idols of Jwala Narasimha with ten hands and Sreedevi and Bhoodevi on either side of him. There is also a small statue of Sri Adivan Satakopa Swami, the first Jeeyar, kept here.
A tall Jayasthambham is in the open space outside the temple walls to honor Krishna Devaraya's win. The Kakatiya Kings, especially Prathapa Rudra, also helped build new buildings and keep this complex in good shape. More than that, there are three smaller shrines for Lakshmi, Andal, and Azhwar. There is a lake famous as Alwar Koneru close to the temple that has clean water.
Lower Ahobilam Temple Structure
The Lower Ahobilam Temple is in the middle of three Vijayanagara-style Praakaras. The main temple at the lower Ahobilam has a Sanctum, a Mukhamantapam, and a Rangamantapam. The walls of all three have beautiful sculptures.
Figures of Yakshas riding on Yalis and horses with their back legs on Makaras are cut into the huge composite pillars in the Rangamantapam. The big statues of singers, sensual women, and the gods Rama and Laxmana are all in good shape. In the temple, there is a nice figure of Narasa Nayaka from the Vijayanagara Empire.
Lower Ahobilam Temple History
The Vijayanagara kings built or added to the main Narasimha Swamy temples at Lower Ahobilam and Upper Ahobilam in the 15th and 16th centuries. However, the Mughals set them on fire in 1578. Since then, they've been fixed up and added on to, so now they have a mix of buildings from different times.
How many temples are there in Lower Ahobilam?

Culture
People usually worship Prahlada Varada Narasimha in lower Ahobila first, then they worship Eguva (upper) Ahobilam Narasimha, which is 8 km away on top of a hill in a cave. Another thing that people do after worshiping the Lord is they see all nine Narasimha's or Nava Narasimhar. A lot of people come to see the yearly Brahmotsavam in February.
