The god's picture has the face of a boar (Varaha or Krodha), and it shows the Lord and his consort, Lakshmi. It is why the Lord of the temple is popular as Kodakara (Varaha) Narasimha Swamy.
Varaha Narasimha is the Lord. He has a pig's head and a lion's tail. He also has a person's body with two hands. It looks like Lord Narasimha is trying to calm Lakshmi Devi down. Lakshmi Devi was sad that Lord Narasimha was going close to Chenchu Lakshmi, so the Lord was trying to make her happy again. This Temple is near to the Varaha Theertham.
History of the Kroda Narasimha Temple
Lord Narasimha was very angry with Lord Brahma because Lord Brahma had given Hiranyakasipu a blessing. Lord Brahma was afraid to get close to the Lord when he was called. Afterward, the Vedas fell out of his hands.
When the Vedas were about to fall, Mother Earth caught them and took them to Pathala to keep them safe. Because the Vedas were missing, the gods went to Lord Narasimha and asked him to bring them back. He did this by changing into a Krodha, an animal with a single front horn.
Later, he came out, and Bhumi-Devi was sitting on top of his horn. When the Lord brought out the Vedas, he sat down at this Kshetra and changed into Sri Krodha Narasimha. At the same time, his anger also went away. Then Brahma went up to the Lord and begged for forgiveness and the Vedas.
The story goes that Lord Narasimha wouldn't give the Vedas to Brahma. They were already lost and should only be given to someone who would take care of them. Brahma then said that they should be given to Lakshmi-Devi. Lord agreed, and then Malola Narasimha showed his face to Brahma.
