In Dwarka, Gujarat, a Vaishnavite temple is famous as ISKCON Temple. Known by another name, Sri Rukmini Devi Dwarkadhish Dham. It is one of the ISKCON society's temples and a well-liked pilgrimage place to visit in Dwarka.
The ISKCON Dwarka Temple is one of the ISKCON temples located worldwide. It is built using limestone and sand in the style of ancient architecture. In all of ISKCON's history, this is the only temple made entirely of stone.
The temple's main shrine is home to exquisite idols of Lord Krishna and Radha dressed in vibrant garb. The temple has gained popularity among tourists due to its stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, and Arabian Sea outlook.
History of ISKCON temple
HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj founded ISKCON Dwarka Dham (Sri Sri Rukmini Devi Dwarkadhish Dham) out of his unwavering love for Lord Dwarkadhish. In 1996, he arrived here to study Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavatam. He wished that Dwarka had a fine, substantial stone temple.
However, he was carrying nothing. He declared that instead of begging for money to build the temple, he would perform the Bhagavatam sincerely to appease Krishna, who would grant the location if He so chose. And so the journey started.
Significance of the temple
As a leading Vedic Culture and Education hub, ISKCON 'Dwarka' is a non-profit organization. It is dedicated to advancing the teachings of the Bhagawad Geeta and fostering Krishna Consciousness.
Since its founding by HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, the center has been instrumental in assisting followers in strengthening their spiritual bonds and leading more fulfilling lives through various initiatives. A temple must be in your Dwarka tour package.
The best time to visit
Although many pilgrims visit Dwarka all year round, visiting between October and March is best. The weather is lovely and cool around this time of year.
