Hill Palace Museum
In the state of Kerala, lies the Hill Palace Museum at Tripunithura, which is a significant attraction and included in any Kochi tour package. This museum has a vast collection of cultural treasures, and it used to be the old residence of Kochi’s Maharaja. The palace was initially built in 1865, and the Archaeology Department of Kerala later renovated it in 1980 into a museum. The Hill Palace Museum was open to visitors from the year 1986.
Amenities and Exhibitions
The Hill Palace Museum is one of the best places to visit in Kochi because of the amenities. These include the cultural museum, the park, and a deer park. There is a garden present, which houses the rare ayurvedic and medicinal plants from all over the country. The numerous artifacts are another major thing to see, with coins, jewelry, furniture, sculptures, weapons, and paintings that exude out the royalty of the palace.
Being one of the major Kochi tourist places, the visitors at Hill Palace Museum are quite huge at any part of the year. The ground is enormous and spreads over an area of 65 Acres. There is a park for children, and it stays open up to 6 PM. There are 50 buildings in total, each with Kerala styled architectures.
With the Hill Palace Museum included in Kochi tourism, global exhibits, such as pottery and art from Japan and China have also been acquired and displayed. The location is so beautiful that lots of movies and documentaries have been shot on this site. Manichitrathazhu was one of the most famous movies to have a shot on this site.
There is also a Center for Heritage Studies set up by the National Mission for Manuscripts. Here the contents and the reconstruction of the old and valuable manuscripts are conducted.
